The East Hampshire Disability
Forum was formed in 2000.
Its
aims are to (i) Raise
the profile of disabled people in the community (ii) Provide an accessible contact point for disabled people (iii) Inform
people on disability issues (iv) Advise
on the Disability Discrimination Act, help people understand it and encourage good practice (v) Identify what is not provided
for disabled people
Its objectives are to (i)
MARKET EFFECTIVELY
WHAT IT DOES (ii)
PRODUCE AND PROVIDE clear and accessible INFORMATION about the Forum (iii) CHAMPION the cause of disabled people across East
Hampshire (iv) EDUCATE nicely - to act as ambassadors for the needs of disabled people (v)
SIGNPOST - where
enquiries are beyond the remit of the Forum to refer them to other appropriate organisations and individuals (vi)
CULTIVATE relationships with key partners The Forum’s key strength
is in being user-led, therefore expert-led. Its constitution states that 75% of the management committee will be disabled
people. It also has well-established relationships with local government and other district-wide organisations and plans
to develop these partnerships further.
We need you to join us to help strengthen the voice of disabled people in East Hampshire!
